More About Dr. Perkins
Dr. Perkins always knew she wanted to pursue a healing profession. On her 21st birthday, when her mother asked what gift she wanted and instead of requesting something traditional like a watch or a pen, she asked for a homeopathic kit and a book to accompany it—something her mother had never even heard of. At the time, she was in her final year at university, planning to enter mainstream medicine and become what she imagined as a “rogue” MD, already incorporating homeopathy and botanical medicine into her own life.
After an unproductive medical school application, she briefly considered Chiropractic medicine. While searching for information about the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College at McMaster University’s resource office, she happened upon a file for the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine instead—a perfectly timed coincidence.
That discovery revealed that the form of medicine she was truly drawn to actually had its own college. She applied, was accepted that spring, and found her true calling.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Perkins loves travelling to foreign places, seeing the culture and traditions. Always to return with gratitude for the blessings of her Canadian life, family and career. She has a passion for cooking meals for family and friends, where beautiful food and time are shared – laughing, reminiscing or planning the next adventure. When she has time to herself, she loves to sip an organic coffee while sitting in front of the fire…after feeding the cat, walking the dog, and practicing yoga…all in that order.
