Emsella

The EMSELLA chair is a revolutionary non-invasive and comfortable physiotherapy treatment for the pelvic floor and core muscles.

What makes this treatment effective is the depth of muscle contraction and stimulation of the entire pelvic floor area. A single session brings you thousands of intense contractions that you would not be able to do on your own. These contractions are very helpful when it comes to muscle strengthening and re-education.

HOW IT WORKS

Understanding Emsella

What is Emsella?

EMSELLA is the HIFEM® procedure, that utilizes electromagnetic energy, at a high frequency, to cause pelvic floor muscle stimulation completely and non-invasively.

How Emsella Works

The Emsella chair stimulates the pelvic floor muscles triggering a reaction from the muscles similar to the contractions you perform when doing a Kegel exercise.

What makes this treatment effective is the depth of muscle contraction and stimulation of the entire pelvic floor area. A single session brings you thousands of intense contractions that you would not be able to do on your own. In fact, in one 30 minute Emsella session over 12,000 pelvic floor contractions occur—that’s like doing 12,000 Kegels!

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Many patients are curious about Emsella as an integrative option to their care. Here are the top five most asked questions.

What does the therapy feel like?

Treatment sessions are approximately 30 minutes long, and the procedure is not at all painful. You can either bring a friend or family member along to chat to during the treatment or read a book or magazine if you would prefer.
During treatment, some patients feel the tensing and relaxing of the pelvic floor muscles which has been described as a similar feeling to doing Kegel exercises.

How quickly will I see results?

Most people see and feel results after just two or three treatment sessions. Mild signs and sensations may be noticeable after your first session, but it will take several sessions before you begin to observe the full effect on your symptoms.

How many sessions are needed?

Your exact treatment plan will be tailored to your needs. For optimum results, most people need a course of six sessions, with 2 sessions per week over a period of three weeks.
In extreme cases, further sessions are required, but otherwise, a maintenance session every three to twelve months is enough.

How long do the results of Emsella treatments last?

How long the effects of your treatment last depend on the severity of your symptoms at the start. Most people will notice a positive effect on symptoms for up to one year. Maintenance of 2-3x per year is often beneficial.

Is Emsella better than Kegel exercises?

Better results can be achieved faster due to the intensity and coverage that can be achieved using the EMSELLA chair. The EMSELLA chair stimulates powerful contractions of the entire pelvic floor musculature. Not just the subset that can be exercised with Kegel exercises. Each 28-minute session in the chair is equivalent to doing 12000 pelvic floor exercises
