Mycotoxin Testing

Mycotoxin testing is a non-invasive method for analyzing biological samples, typically urine or blood, to detect harmful compounds produced by moulds.

HOW IT WORKS

Understanding Mycotoxin Testing

What is Mycotoxin Testing?

Mycotoxins are toxic molecules, often proteins, produced by mould species that disrupt immune function and detoxification pathways, contribute to many diseases, and, in some cases, are carcinogenic (i.e. contribute to cancer development). We can inhale or ingest Mycotoxins.

Mould species that have colonized the body can release them. Mycotoxin Testing uses a urine sample (a detoxification pathway for these toxins) and measures the amount of toxins present.

What It Tests For

The Mycotoxin Testing is a non-invasive, easy-to-perform test in which patients take a sample kit home and provide a urine sample in the comfort of their home.

They will either send the sample to the laboratory or return it to Radiant Health & Wellness for shipment. The test can assess the type and the amount of many mycotoxins.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Testing is half of the puzzle; interpretation and assessment complete your health picture.

What mycotoxins does the test measure?

Mycotoxin Testing at Radiant Health & Wellness includes ochratoxin A, aflatoxins, trichothecenes, gliotoxin, zearalenone, and other clinically relevant mould toxins.

How is the test performed?

Patients provide a urine sample at home following simple instructions. We ship the sample to the laboratory for analysis, and the results are sent directly to your practitioner.

Do I need to prepare for the test?

Your clinician may advise you to increase fluid intake, encourage sweating and gentle movement, or strategically use binders before testing to enhance toxin release.

Does a positive result mean I currently live in a mouldy home? Should I test for mould in my house?

Not always. It may indicate past exposure, colonization, or release from stored toxins. Environmental or home testing is often encouraged, including a swab/dust test and air analysis.
