HOW IT WORKS

Understanding Bowen Therapy

What is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy is a non-invasive and relaxing body technique where gentle pressure is applied to specific areas to support the parasympathetic nervous system allowing for rest, recovery, and repair of the body.

Depending on the sequence of moves and locations Bowen Therapy is applied to, different concerns can be targeted.

How Bowen Medicine Works

In each therapeutic sequence, carefully timed pauses are used to separate each move and allow the body to focus its attention on the area of concern.

Bowen Therapy offers patients one of the safest, fasted, and most effective modalities indicated for chronic conditions as well as improving overall health.

Our Approach

Our clinic provides access to discussions about integrative modalities such as Bowen Therapy. When appropriate, these therapies may be explored in collaboration with each patient’s care team.

We do not claim Bowen Therapy as a treatment or cure for any disease. Instead, our role is to educate, inform, and support patients who wish to understand the range of integrative approaches that are being studied internationally and used in an integrative setting to best achieve their health goals.

You will lie comfortably on a treatment table, either fully clothed or in undergarments under a sheet.

How long does a session last?

A typical session lasts 45-60 minutes, depending on the patient’s needs.

How many sessions will I need?

Some patients notice improvement after one or two sessions, but a course of 3-5 is typically recommended. Sessions can be weekly, monthly, or as needed, depending on the patient’s exact concerns.
