Nutritional Counselling
The gut is not only the centre of the body, but the centre of our well-being too.
HOW IT WORKS
Understanding Nutritional Counselling
What is Nutritional Counselling?
Many chronic conditions, mental and emotional concerns, and overall quality of life have a dietary component. As Naturopathic Doctors, our clinicians are trained in disease prevention, patient education, and Nutritional Counselling. All are key aspects of improving condition and achieving sustained longevity and health.
How Nutritional Counselling Works
Dietary modifications specific to individualized concerns, conditions, and goals work to promote health, prevent disease, and alter or reverse the course of many illnesses. Nutrition plays a significant role in maintaining optimal health; what you put in your body determines how well your body functions.
A typical session starts with understanding your current diet and your individual concerns and goals. From there, we can discuss the many aspects of your diet, including macronutrients, micronutrients, fibre, caloric intake, and proper hydration. Nutrition and diet do not have to be challenging – in the modern world, we are privileged to have access to many alternatives, not only in medicine but also in food.
Our Approach
Our clinic provides access to discussions about integrative modalities such as Nutritional Counselling. When appropriate, these therapies may be explored in collaboration with each patient’s care team.
We do not claim that Nutritional Counselling is a treatment or cure for any disease. Instead, our role is to educate, inform, and support patients who wish to understand the range of integrative approaches being studied internationally and used in an integrative setting to achieve their health goals.
FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Many patients are curious about Nutritional Counselling as an integrative option to their care. Explore the top five most asked questions.
What are the benefits of Nutritional Counselling?
Many people find nutritional counselling helpful for building healthier eating habits, learning practical meal prep and shopping skills, improving overall wellness, and developing a positive relationship with food.
Is Nutritional Counselling the same for everyone?
No. At Radiant Health & Wellness, our Nutritional Counselling considers many individualized factors, including age, culture, activity level, preferences, and personal goals. No two people are the same, so no two plans are either.
Does Nutritional Counselling replace medical care?
No. Nutritional Counselling is complementary to medical care. It is important to have your diet assessed by qualified healthcare professionals, as many medical interventions, such as pharmaceutical prescriptions, can be affected by diet. At Radiant Health & Wellness, our clinicians are trained to address potential interactions and make safe, effective integrative recommendations.
Do I need to follow a strict diet plan?
Not usually. Nutritional counselling emphasizes flexibility and balance, not rigid rules. At Radiant Health & Wellness, our clinicians focus on finding practical, sustainable choices that fit your lifestyle and diagnosis while minimizing impact on Quality Of Life (QOL).
Does insurance cover Nutritional Counselling?
Coverage depends on your plan. Some extended health benefits cover services from registered dietitians and Naturopathic Doctors. To check if you are covered, reach out to your insurance provider.
