GLUTATHIONE
Glutathione is one of the most important and powerful cellular antioxidants. It is a tri-peptide consisting of three amino acids (cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid) and is often referred to as the master antioxidant. This comes from its ability to be recycled and reused by our cells, allowing for one glutathione molecule to quench many free radicals and pro-oxidative species.
HOW IT WORKS
Routes of administration?
Oral: Since glutathione is a peptide (ie. a short protein molecule) it is broken down into the specific amino acids in the gastrointestinal tract. At Radiant Health & Wellness, we prescribe liposomal glutathione products which prevent this breakdown and improve absorption significantly, although not completely.
IV: This allows for 100% rapid absorption of glutathione and significantly increased serum glutathione levels. By bypassing the gastrointestinal tract, we can deliver more glutathione to where the body needs it.

WHAT IT CAN BE USED FOR
What a treatment session looks like
A typical infusion lasts between 15 minutes and 45 minutes. During the appointment a qualified healthcare professional will access a vein to administer the glutathione. At radiant health & wellness we use health canada approved equipment and a clean-field technique to minimize risk of infection and complications. Vitals are performed prior to each infusion and patients can relax in one of our comfortable reclining chairs and enjoy complimentary tea and coffee.
Typically, glutathione is administered after another intravenous therapy such as a Myer’s Cocktail (vitamin C and B vitamins) or a Plaque-X therapy.
Cautions:
Glutathione contains a sulfur-moiety which can exacerbate allergic symptoms or cross-react with sulfonamide-allergies. It is imperative to notify your healthcare team of a past medical history of allergies or adverse reactions to medication or medical procedures. If during the appointment you experience symptoms such a headache, itchy eyes, hives, difficulty breathing or wheezing, throat closing, or thickening of the tongue.
