ANDROPAUSE

Andropause, also known as late-onset hypogonadism, is a gradual decrease in the body’s testosterone level with older age. This is characterized by a series of physical, psychological, and sexual change in men starting around 45 years of age.

Testosterone is a hormone found in both men and women and plays a predominant role in muscle mass formation, sperm production, sexual health, and secondary sex characteristics. Secondary sex characteristic include body hair distribution, a lower voice, and increased muscle mass.

Not all men are affected by andropause and if experienced, not all men will experience andropause the same. However, andropause can lead to significant decrease in quality of life in many men.

    OUR APPROACH

At Radiant Health & Wellness our Naturopathic Doctors will assess your testosterone and inquire about your health history so that a targeted treatment plan can be made. This often includes (but is not limited to) a physical exam, blood work, and urine analysis.

The typical approach to andropause will include diet and lifestyle modification and testosterone replacement therapy (NOTE: Naturopathic Doctors are unable to prescribe testosterone medications) Many of our patients benefit from oral supplements and herbal therapies, and intravenous nutrients.
